How Does Fear Impact Your Decision Quality?

Compare your Holistic-DMQ (Decision Making Quality) during a personal emergency, to that of talented doctors in Emergency Rooms.

 

Why are doctors able to exercise High-DMQ, while doing their tedious, time-sensitive and complex work to save people’s lives, while most people just try to stop shaking?

 

These types of situations play out for all of us, to a lesser extent,

professionally and personally, almost daily, with various decisions we must make.

.

Objectively, how well do you handle complex decision making under stress?

How are only a small percentage of people able use their High-DMQ, similar to exceptional surgeons, in almost every situation professionally and personally, while for most, their DMQ deteriorates substantially in direct correlation to the stress or fear they perceive, associated with their decision options?

 

Interestingly, one of the key sub-components of Holistic-DMQ, is Inner-Circle-DMQ (people who are in your inner-most decision-making circle). Typically, in challenging situations, people tend to lean more heavily on their Inner-Circles, to help them make decisions.

Thus; if your Inner-Circle’s DMQ is less-than-stellar, especially if they have hidden agendas, self-centered interests, etc., that typically won’t be revealed until later, often less-than-stellar outcomes are produced.

.

Yet; we wonder how we get ourselves into these positions.

Even worse, later on, we reflect to comprehend, what we possibly forfeited,

by making our less-than-stellar decisions.

 

Our devilish nemesis Regret, then surfaces days, months or years later. Sigh!

.

If we don’t change, all we need to do, is look in life’s rearview mirror… and we shouldn’t be surprised to see more of the same, through our windshields, unless Lady Luck intervenes!

Inner-Circle affirmation (vs. information, regarding our decisions) is one of the sneakiest paths to Low-DMQ.

.

At the same time, with deteriorated DMQ, many people bypass those who can objectively provide information (vs. more comforting affirmation) to help them reach the best objective decision! Other people’s Jugular Decisions will let you know whose Inner-Circles you’re in.

 

When we don’t succumb to Fear, we’re now capable of optimizing our Heart and Soul DMQ…. vs. our sub-optimized, rational Mind-DMQ. The eloquent part, the mind is so clever, it will always find what it is looking for to justify its decisions, to make it look good.

.

Unfortunately, the Heart and Soul will always hold us hostage with the truth.

Positive Social Impact:  This same less-than-stellar DMQ process plays out, as observed by our lack of social progress. This cycle viciously repeats.

  1.  Proposed changes that will positively impact social issues

  2.  Fear sets in on the decision makers… simply because changes will need to take place

  3.  Less-Than-Stellar decisions are produced, to mitigate the risks and unfortunately the upside opportunities

  4.  Less-Than-Stellar decisions are implemented in less-than-stellar ways, by less-than-stellar leaders,

       who are more concerned with their personal situation, than changing the lives of others

  5. Very little changes… so… we just keep repeating steps 1 through 4, with better PR, to make it look like things are changing

 

Therefore; our teams only look and work with Top-7%’ers to implement our Fresh, Intelligent Social Impact solutions.

They are the only ones who “get it”, and then can get done what needs done, to change millions of lives.

Can All Those Who Need Help… Be Helped?

Have you ever noticed how little societies change… except for the ways, the people with “power”… want them to change?

 

Why does this happen, time-and-again?

 

Do the people with the “power”… really, have all the “power”…

or is there a “secret weapon” they have?

.

Do the people without the “power”… really, not have much “power”…

or is there a “secret weapon” they’re missing?

Is it possible… some people without much “power”, are unintentionally helping to create a self-fulfilling prophesy, for themselves?

 

This is a lovely, complex topic, that I haven’t figured out, although there appears to be a consistent thread, connected to most (not all) those with “power” and missing from those without “power”.

 

Further; this thread doesn’t seem to have any preference for race or gender.

How does this thread play out in the real world?

 

Quite simply… people with “power” usually make High-DMQ decisions… to keep their “power” (and it’s often not attractive!)

 

Meanwhile… people without “power” usually make Low-DMQ decisions… often, to their own detriment.

 

We see this DMQ play out in every market we’ve worked. Even with our best efforts to help the organizations who need the most help, only the outliers in this “needs help” group, will work with our teams. Meanwhile 100+ F500’s, who are already large and don’t need more help and another $100+ Million, have worked with our teams.

In launching our 100,000+ Scholarships Initiative, aligned with DEI,

we are really trying to help the small-to-mid-sized universities,

especially those who are doing the most for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

 

Nonetheless, finding leaders at small-to-mid-sized universities,

who are actually committed to DEI, who actually “get it”

and are actually capable of leading opportunities to bring in an

additional $25+ Million…

is much harder… than finding leaders who “get it” at larger,

more successful universities…

and, who really don’t need these new donation streams as much.

How Are You Allocating Your Self-Care Time?

Why do so many people struggle with self-care?

 

Just maybe… there are many definitions of self-care, created by many different influencers… with none of them being wrong… and none of them being right!

 

Complex topics, such as self-care, need to be thoroughly and uniquely examined,

to unearth the common threads of healthy, customizable success.

.

Unfortunately, many (not all) so-called self-care professionals, often provide canned answers while attempting to appear, to have your best interest in mind, who also happen to be considered physically attractive by most and routinely do photoshoots to create wonderful images suggesting, “this is what self-care looks like”.

Superficial images from people telling you to focus on yourself… are wonderful soundbites, are quite popular on social media and are usually highly effective, as has been demonstrated by PR efforts at organizations in nearly every industry, for years!

 

Since this PR approach effectively creates Revenues for their organizations… and I have an MBA… I get it. For most (not all), it’s more about them (just try getting their products or services without paying)… than the person who actually needs the self-care help. Who can disagree with this eloquent, capitalistic and effective marketing?

However; what if self-care started and ended with selfless leadership that paradoxically provided an abundance of self-care? Imagine, by intelligently (important!) giving of yourself, this provided more self-care, than any other approach!

 

What if every self-care initiative had at least these three common threads:

  • Appreciation for who you are, what you have and the privilege to change others’ lives!
  • Unconditional love!
  • No need to get the credit, just wonderful gifts flowed into those in need, without anyone knowing you helped!

 

So… how do you allocate your time to lead a self-caring, purpose-driven life?

Hard Question:  How are you allocating your time between self-serving interests and purpose-driven, others-oriented activities?

 

Take 365 days, multiply by 24 hours and then draw your personal pie chart. Create one pie slice for, “changing other people’s lives” (who aren’t family and aren’t a primary focus of your income-producing job), to see how big or small, that pie slice is actually, for you. Hint: 88 hours a year, represents, just 1% of your time and 10% is 876 hours.

 

Unorthodoxly-Amazing… is just that…

Unorthodox, as very few will understand your decisions…

yet, the only pathway to an Amazing life…

that most, will simply forfeit while they’re busy fitting into

mainstream, mediocre thinking!

using less than 50% of their potential?

 

Sigh! Why are so many people, so focused on bringing others down

and not lifting, both themselves and others up?

Sure… there are many ideas, reasons and excuses on why forfeiture happens consistently.

 

How do you awaken; to see your life in more abundant ways, be energized with your power to positively impact yourself / 1,000’s of others and live an Unorthodoxly-Amazing life… that simply takes their breath away?

 

How many years of your life have you forfeited by only pursuing a Good-Enough job, Good-Enough partner, etc.?

 

Just maybe… the way you see your life… and life itself… is the problem!?!

The 100+ Year Supply Chain Issue Nobody’s Talking About!

Supply chain issues… why has it been all the buzz the last couple years? Because… it’s now impacting people in wealthy countries!

 

Have you ever wondered why, you:

  • Had reasonable access to a college education, when millions of people didn’t?
  • Have clean water to drink, a roof over your head and food on your table, while billions (literally) of people don’t have one or more of these “luxuries”?

This Top-7% Social Impact Supply Chain is actually so simple… it sounds complex!

 

Let’s start with a basic, general rule of thumb… only Top-7%’ers change the world. Wouldn’t it be great, if Top-7%’ers could change the world by themselves! If it only took one person to fix social issues, they’d all be fixed!

 

Unfortunately, collaboration of Top-7%’ers is required to actually fix

complex social issues; which is why, they don’t get fixed!

Here’s where the Top-7% Supply Chain typically breaks down. Most people think the reason we have so many social problems, is obvious… only 7% of people are actually capable of being part of the solution for 100% of our social challenges. However, this is merely the tip of the iceberg. The problem is actually much, much more challenging!

 

Thus; as can be observed, the world’s social challenges persist, generation after generation, after generation… because of this Top-7% Supply Chain Issue.

.

Let’s start with what Top-7%’er are not. They are not people who just have:

   + Money

   + Influence

   + Ideas

Sorry; these are all nice-to-haves and are valued by most people, but having just these attributes, doesn’t change the world. Not convinced? Just look around, at our shared world! We have an abundance of people with these attributes.

 

Top-7%’ers are people, who at most (and aren’t capable of being more than), a “Holistic-Link”, because nobody can be the entire “Chain”, in a Social Impact Supply Chain Solution!

 

The best way to comprehend what “Holistic Links” are in the Holistic Supply Chain, include:

  1. Top 7% Leaders identifying the root causes of a challenge… e.g. homelessness, abuse, discrimination, etc.
  2. Top-7% Organizations, with Top-7% Leaders, who are committed to being a “Holistic Link” in the Social Impact Supply Chain.
  3. Top-7% Leaders, willing to work behind the scenes to ensure the Social Impact Supply Chain isn’t broken.
  4. Top 7% Boots on the Ground Leaders who can implement positive social impact at specific points where social challenges exist.

If any one of these 4+ required “Holistic Links”, isn’t a Top-7%’er…

the Social Impact Supply Chain is broken…

and the “would have been” positive social impact is forfeited or greatly diminished.

 

It’s important to note, there are exceptional Top-7% “Links” today in broken Social Impact Supply Chains… who are really trying. But; that isn’t enough, as we can see from the never-ending social challenges.

 

DEI… look around… most people in leadership positions are constantly talking about it. Unfortunately, they haven’t figured out how to get, or in most cases, aren’t committed to actually getting, only Top-7%’ers into their Social Impact Supply Chain to implement an effective DEI strategy… that actually works exceptionally… and actually solves these persistent DEI challenges… intelligently.

Thus; most talk.. about DEI… is just that… “talk”,

with just enough action sprinkled in to make leaders look good enough. Sigh!

Do You Love the Glacial Speed of Positive Change?

Objectively… if MLK was alive today…

how many social media platforms would block, suspend, etc.,

his accounts, from the abundance of complaints against his content?

 

What happens when 93% of people don’t want or are neutral to social

changes, and don’t do anything to enable or promote positive changes?

 

What happens when organizations spend more money advertising about

positive change… than actually doing positive change?

 

Are you a Top-7%’er… who’s willing, to actively be part of positive change solutions?

93% Of the time, outcomes from efforts to create positive changes, take one of two primary courses.

 

1 – If the changes create positive, self-centered benefits for people with moderate-to-high economic power, changes are adopted with unparalleled velocity. For example, look at the warp speed of technological changes adopted by people with economic power and self-centered values!

 

2 – If the changes create risks to power bases, unknown outcomes, etc., to the people who are in positions of power, changes are adopted at glacial speeds, while the majority of these same people, who don’t want to risk losing their power, create the illusion, they’re creating wonderful social changes at warp speed. Sigh!

Let’s look at a few examples, that solidify these realities.

 

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) – The U.S. was founded on July 4, 1776, nearly 246 years ago. Amazingly, WE collectively have yet to embrace the concept that, “… all men (people) are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”.

 

Automobiles – Look at the speed in which automobiles have evolved, since those with the economic power have demanded continuous improvement; thus improving their own personal lifestyles.

Computers / Smartphones – In just 25 years, WE have witnessed no less than 10 exponential improvements in computers / smartphones!

 

Just imagine… if DEI was a computer / smartphone… WE wouldn’t even be

discussing DEI anymore, because it’d be a boring topic that had been

remedied many years ago and improved significantly every two years.

.

Instead… we’re still working on DEI, version 2.0 today, to build the equivalent of the 1987 “portable” Apple Macintosh II. Imagine using a computer / smartphone today, that:

  • Included one or two floppy drives; or a hard disk that held 40 MB of total data, or only 4 of today’s 10 MB pictures
  • Weighed 24 pounds or the equivalent of 62, 6.14 oz. iPhone 13’s today
  • Offered the first color screen for a Mac

Thus; collectively, WE’ve decided DEI should progress at glacial speeds and computers should progress

at warp speed. This -IS- who WE genuinely and collectively are! Sigh!

 

For every positive change in society, the speed is directly correlated to the majority of decision makers,

(those with an array of powers, including economic) and their threads of self-centeredness!

 

Fortunately… there are Top-7%’ers… the only ones who actually create positive change!

This is a tough blog to write; as it pierces to the heart of who we genuinely, have collectively (and apparently proudly, given our unwillingness to positively change)… become as a society! Sigh!

 

You, if you’re one of the rare Top-7%’ers who actually gets things doneyou can change the world for literally 1,000’s of people! We’ve made it relatively easy (less than 20 hours a year) for you to be a Catalyst for Significant Positive Change!

 

Important Bias Baseline:  By no effort (zero) from nearly everyone reading this blog, you were just plain lucky! None of us had a checklist when we came out of our mother’s womb, with our requests for the socioeconomic status of our parents, the country we were born, the color of our skin, our religious orientation, our gender, our physical and mental health, etc.

Yes… it’s 2022 and every Social Problem WE share / ignore together, worldwide… is the result of one, ultimate, yet simple problem, that WE have collectively chosen, to intentionally not fix!

 

Reality Check:  Here are several key worldwide facts (Source: UNICEF). Please keep in mind, the U.S. has a total population of 330 million people.

  • 673 million people practice open defecation (twice the U.S. population)!
  • 2.2 billion people lack access to safe drinking water!
  • More than half (4.0+ billion) of the global population doesn’t have access to safe sanitation!

 

Now… do you feel lucky? If you were unlucky enough to be one of the people in these alarming statistics… what would you be willing to “trade” for the life you’re enjoying / struggling with, in the U.S. or Europe for example?

If you:

  • Earn $50,000 per year or less, would you be willing to trade $10,000 or 20% of it, to not change your lifestyle; or would you prefer to live without safe drinking water?
  • Earn $100,000 per year, would you be willing to trade $50,000 to not change your lifestyle; or would you prefer to practice open defecation?
  • Have $1+ million in retirement savings, would you be willing to trade 50% of it, to not change your lifestyle; or would you prefer to not have access to safe sanitation?

 

How appreciative are you, for your good fortune?

How do you -actually- demonstrate appreciation for your good fortune?

Is sharing resources (especially your talents) for the betterment of others,

a genuine way of -actually- showing appreciation?

Socioeconomic Status (SES) in the U.S., directly impacts the percent of people who earn Bachelors or higher degrees. Here is the likelihood of someone earning a Bachelor’s (or higher) Degree. Sadly, these statistics aren’t driven by the person’s intelligence; rather, they’re driven predominantly by their SES (sigh!):

  • 14% – If your family is in the bottom 25% SES
  • 29% – If your family is in the middle 50% SES
  • 60% – If your family is in the top 25% SES

Twisted Challenge:  Who do you think leads university initiatives to create educational opportunities

for Low Socioeconomic, would-attend-if-they-could-afford-it, college students?

Answer: High Socioeconomic decision makers. (“Houston… we have an unconscious bias / entitlement problem!”)

 

Thus; there is often (85%+) a complete disconnect due to a biased lack of significant-action-empathy, creative thinking,

willingness to change the system, etc., from most university decision makers in positions of authority… sigh!

.

Why? Talking and doing “good-enough”, is apparently “good enough” for most of University So-Called-Leaders, to keep their six-figure positions, but not actually be part of the significant change that needs to take place for the betterment of Low-Socioeconomic would-be students! When universities reward Glacial Speed… they entrench the problem even deeper. Nonetheless; most universities continue to eloquently, just as most For-Profits companies do, push out their, “we’re wonderful at DEI” PR!

 

Great News:  Roughly 7% to 15% of university decision makers are actually committed to improving the educational

opportunities, especially for people disproportionately impacted by diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) hurdles!

Together… WE can solve any and every social ill, by doing one complex thing, referenced earlier, that we love to avoid;

Early in life, most of us, and for some, their entire lives…

being intelligently-wrong… is something we desperately try to avoid!

 

However; for Top-7%’ers, being intelligently wrong is a total joy!

Are you part of the 93% crowd or

the Top-7% Intelligently-Wrong-as-Often-as Possible group?

.

Many people live in their Must-Be-Right-Almost-All-the-Time world. This falsely creates a cushiony environment, where the illusion of Selective-Control is vitally important. Yes; they believe they are right, in their limited-thinking environment, almost all the time. What’s not to like if you’re self-centered, in this shielded, tiny world… especially, if this is what you believe, keeps you mentally happy / comfortable?

The 93%-Crowd are right most of the time in their world, because they’ve created an environment around them, where they’re surrounded by people, environments and situations… where they can control or significantly influence the people and environments where they live and work. Thus; they enable this self-fulfilling prophesy of being right, albeit only in their tiny world.

 

They can masterfully defend against the invasion of new ideas, diverse-thinking people, etc., to keep people from entering and upsetting their world. It’s quite understandable. But; this environment is extremely unattractive to Top-7%’ers.

 

Vulnerability is a feared and unwelcome concept to the 93%-Crowd!

.

Meanwhile; vulnerability is Unorthodoxly-Amazing to the Top-7%’ers!

Bringing it All Together:  Here’s the kicker question… do people ever switch from the 93%-Crowd or Top-7%-Group… from where they were, when they were 20-Something, as they travel the remainder of their life journeys?

Personally, I absolutely love being intelligently-wrong, especially on important, life-changing beliefs, because it changes my future self! Recently; I realized how wrong I was regarding something that happened in my life about three years ago. It took until now, and three years of experience pursuing what I thought was best; only to realize, the way I saw something… was wrong. I had to rewrite some of my stubborn, deeply-seeded scripts, that weren’t serving me well.

The key question driving DMQ (Decision Making Quality) on this life topic, is, “Do people really change much from their 20-Something selves as they travel life’s journey”? My original thinking was, “sure”; thinking that we all get wiser, add more experience, etc. I now believe, I was dead wrong!

 

Our DMQ-Engine doesn’t actually change much, as we move into our 30’s, 40’s, etc. The complicated part about this topic; we do get exposed to new situations naturally through the aging process. However; we’re still using the same DMQ-Engine! We’re just providing our same DMQ-Engine with additional inputs, that are naturally incorporated as a result of more experiences, as the years roll past us.

.

Thus; expecting a 20-Something in the 93%-Crowd, to be a better decision maker, more appreciative, understand what they’re looking for in life, etc., as they age into their 30’s, 40’s etc., is simply… inaccurate decision making!.

We really don’t get better, we merely get an older version of our same DMQ-Engine. Sure; there is the façade of wisdom that naturally comes along with age, regardless of your DMQ-Engine, simply because you’ve been exposed to more!

 

Thus; age… truly is just a number! Providing patience, support and open-mindedness, as a form of emotional oxygen, to Top-7%’ers who are 20-Somethings or 30-Somethings, with 8.5+ (scale of 0.0 to 10.0) DMQ-Engines, is far more intelligent than thinking 5.0’s to 7.5’s in the 93%-Crowd, will magically jump up to an 8.5+, as they get older. It rarely happens!

 

Unlike wine, which gets better with age, our DMQ-Engines don’t change much over time. For example, if you’re in the Top-7%-Group, you’ll be:

  • Open-Minded at 30; and be much more open-minded as you grow older
  • Appreciative at 30; and be much more appreciative as you grow older
  • Unorthodoxly-Amazing / A Unicorn when you’re 30, and be off-the-charts Unorthodoxly-Amazing as you grow older

 

That humble pie of seeing this wrongly, that I’m enjoying right now is so, so delicious;

albeit sadly, a few years stale!

 

How many and how tasty are your humble pies?

Where Are You on the Continuum of Entitlement / Appreciation?

For you, what are your (subjective) definitions for Entitlement and Appreciation?

 

What are the major benchmarks, on your personal evaluation scale, from 0 (completely entitled) to 100 (completely appreciative)?

 

Think deeply…

this is a much tougher question to answer honestly… than it first appears!

 

Since you’re just one, complex person, the need to blend 100’s of attributes / variables associated with Entitlement / Appreciation together, to discover your overall Entitlement / Appreciation level, is quite challenging! It is much easier to cherry-pick and just consider one attribute at a time, such as appreciation for clean drinking water, access to education, etc.!

Warning:  Social media has made it so much easier for most people to talk about appreciation; while they actually do very little appreciating; other than, their “just enough to look good, program”. Or worse; criticize others who are asking them to step up and be part of the solution, based on that person’s previous content (which was naively  believed), where they self-described themselves as being highly appreciative. They’ll immediately go into a defense or attach-mode, if you ask them to actually participate in the solution. 

 

What do the sins, fruits and social obligations look like, along the continuum of Entitlement / Appreciation? If you really want to understand yourself, take a sheet of paper and draw a line, with the labels “0”, “10”, “20”… to “100”. Now; write down your subjective definition of Entitlement / Appreciation, at each level.

However; here are some guidelines to consider, for those people who genuinely want to understand themselves and develop into the overall, best person they can be on their unique Life Journey.

  • Appreciation doesn’t begin, until “50” (scale=0 to 100); this is the “0” starting point for Appreciation.
  • Under “50”, merely measures our sin level of Entitlement.
  • Appreciation without Action for others, maxes out at “70”.
  • When you begin using your Appreciation, to change the lives of others, that is the start of where true Leveraged Appreciation begins.
  • The more you leverage your Appreciation for others, the closer you get to the unreachable, theoretical “100”!

 

What if WE all saw helping others,

almost as important as helping ourselves?

What if WE all began leveraging our personal opportunities,

to genuinely impact other people’s lives… in a BIG way?

 

What if WE measured our impact, from our “base” and not our “excess” (e.g. if you have $100 Million and you donate, $1M from your “excess”… did you really make anywhere near the impact, you could have made)?

 

Now… what will you do differently…

to positively change your part of the world?

 

Who are you genuinely…

Entitled…

Appreciative-Enough…

or Appreciatively-Leveraged?

Why Are You Forfeiting So Much in Life?

Why is the gap for most people, between the life they could lead…

and the life they’re actually leading… so wide?

 

There’s one key attribute, when left underdeveloped from its full potential,

that will cunningly enable you to forfeit more Amazing in your life…

than you’ll actually experience!

 

Similar to Jim Collins book, “Good to Great”, where he articulates why, “Good is the enemy of Great”; so too are a leader’s qualities that are “Good”… but not “Great”.

.

This gap between Good and Great is created by your Genesis-DMQ

(Decision Making Quality)-Root. So, despite the “Red Carpet being rolled out for you,

sadly, most people still obliviously forfeit “Amazing” opportunities… forever!

Do you regularly run into people, both professionally and personally, who truly believe they’re doing Great things, but are actually, only doing Good Enough things, at best; especially those with the most wealth, power and influence who are only using a fraction of their capacity to do marginally more than those with little?

 

Your self “Good vs. Great” analysis, is one that must be ruthlessly analyzed with your heart and soul… not, your mind! When you become unbiasedly-one with your heart and soul, you genuinely begin to understand how objectively and beautifully unique you are, in a holistic way.

 

Interestingly… the impediment to this lovely journey of understanding yourself objectively, is your mind. It will selfishly prevent you from being genuine, with its noble, yet biased intention of sugar-coating your ego and self-esteem coupled with pleasing your need for control and to “fit into your tribe”. For most people, their mind serves as a dopamine infuser of positive justification, regardless if they’re objectively right, wrong, open-minded or close-minded.

The first step we need to take, in closing the gap between the life we’re leading and the life we’re forfeiting, is to acknowledge, in an unbiased way, who we really are… all of our awesome, okay and ugly attributes.

.

How can we improve from an objective “5.0” in an attribute,

if we don’t first acknowledge, we’re a “5.0” in that attribute? Our minds biasly tell us,

we’re an “8.0” or “9.0”, but our hearts and souls know the truth.

 

The key attribute, you need to examine from all 360 degrees… Appreciation!

Example of an Analogy, of our Talent Levels for an Attribute: Many of us played music, sports, etc., in K-12 and may have been very good. However, roughly:

  • Only 2 out of 100 high school athletes get college scholarships
  • Only 1 out of 250 college athletes go on to play professionally (Source: NCAA and NAIA statistics)
  • Only 1 out of 250 NFL professionals gets inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame

 

Comprehensive Appreciation… where is your talent level… is it equivalent

to a good high schooler, college talent, professional or Hall of Famer?

How many times have you thought you understood Appreciation,

only to realize later, you only had the Appreciation talent of a good high schooler?

 

What will you do today… to close the gap between the life you’re leading and the holistic life you could be leading?

 

Pursue Unorthodoxly Amazing… or don’t bother… that’s my recommendation!

    and helping others, not from your surplus, but from your base,

If this became the new world order tomorrow (before you would need to finally change)…

where would you, your organization and your community be repositioned?

In looking at the unending social challenges and inequities in our world, governments, organizations and communities… it appears quite obvious, most people in positions of power, including most of those earning over $250K… would become unknowns overnight… and the majority of the world would rejoice in harmony!

 

What if we replaced…

+ Current government leaders with the most overall, intelligent and socially cognizant people, based on their actual public and unbiased Social Impact record?

+ Current CXO’s with the most caring, intelligent and hard-working professionals, based on their ability to implement the best ideas impacting everyone in the world… both today and our shared futures? (Most CXO’s would become modern dinosaurs overnight.)

.

+ Current social programs, with social programs driven by Collaborative Doing and providing hand ups vs. a hand outs; while, punishing those who demonstrate self-centered behavior? (Most Non-Profits would become modern day dinosaurs overnight.)

 

Would you be replaced, because you’ve primarily acquired power, based on today’s self-centered valuing system… rather than these far more inspirational values?

+ Executives and Managers telling us how good they are…

    with Leaders who were required to implement the best ideas for all,

    from the ideas provided to them on social media? Would most of today executives, become quiet?

 

+ Non-Profits telling us how good they are…

    with Non-Profits who were required to implement the best ideas for all,

    provided to them on social media? Would most of today’s Non-Profits, evaporate?

.

Would you still post, need to change significantly or just get replaced…

by a Leader who actually used the best social media ideas

to significantly improve our one, shared world?

At the world level… we see war… and humbling humanity at its finest!

 

At the country level… we see impassable political chasms… and courageous acts of social change!

 

At the organizational level… we see greedy power… and hard-working, low paid employees!

 

At the community level… we see hatred for neighbors… and selfless acts of helping neighbors!

 

In social media… we see unwarranted attacks… and open-minded appreciation for differences!

 

At the family level… we see mental and physical abuse… and unconditional love!

Are You and Me… Much Different Than Russian Leaders?

“To them, you’re just a freak, like me!

 

They need you right now, but when they don’t, they’ll cast you out, like a leper!

 

You see, their morals, their code, it’s a bad joke.

 

Dropped at the first sign of trouble.

 

They’re only as good as the world allows them to be.

 

I’ll show you.

Sure… most people’s first reaction is… not me… how dare anyone ask!

 

However… let’s think about the title question… a little deeper!

 

If there’s 1 item left on the grocery shelf… do you snag it… or leave it for someone who might need it more than you?

 

If you want to upgrade your residential situation… do you try to acquire more property, in the best way for you… or the best way for the seller?

 

Do you prefer being able to tell people what to do professionally or personally… or being told what to do, even if the person is objectively, a better leader / person than you?

Yes… I could go on and on, with thought-provoking questions. However; Low-DMQ’ers (Decision Making Quality) people, have already been offended by the questions, or have already justified their actions, while looking out for themselves first… so they’ve already stopped reading.

 

Maybe you’re still on the fence… fiercely fighting the denial muscles we’ve all been trained to utilize for self-love, self-esteem, etc. That’s understandable. The deepest thinkers are evaluating the legitimacy of this title question… as it applies in their smaller world.

 

So, here’s the litmus test that puts the nail in the coffin for this theory,

that many of us (not all) aren’t much different than the Russian leaders.

Name one thing… that together… we can’t change!

If your answer isn’t a blank sheet of paper… please repeat the exercise.

 

Thus; when we’re genuinely together… we can do anything… yet look at the world and our collective decisions! Collectively, we’ve chosen to be more like the Russian leaders, than brothers and sisters. It hurts to acknowledge this…Sigh!

 

Genuinely Together… we can:

  + Experience peace, worldwide!

  + Enjoy life sustaining food and clean water for all!

  + Lift our equal brothers and sisters… who haven’t been blessed with

     the resources and opportunities, you and I have been blessed!

Should You Even Bother… ?

Really… should you even bother trying?

 

Will anyone listen to you?

 

Will you enable anyone or anything to change?

 

If it seems that 99% of the time… nothing changes… then… should you even bother to try… to positively change someone or something?

This blog won’t answer this fascinating question… because its answer is unique to you… and will only be implemented well or poorly… by you!

 

Have you noticed:

  • Mental health challenges are on the rise?
  • Division between the “Haves” and “Have-Nots” has widened?
  • Homelessness, food insecurity, racism continues to thrive?

 

Again… should you even bother to try… to mitigate or eliminate seemingly, unrelenting challenges?

Professionally – Is your employer listening? Are Non-Profit Executives open to new fundraising ideas? Should you even bother trying to get them to positively change their culture? Isn’t it much easier for them to just hire a PR firm to communicate what they want the public to hear… rather than actually changing their culture?

 

Personally – Is your partner listening? Should you even bother trying to get them to positively change the relationship for the better? Isn’t it much easier for them to just do what is best for them and hope you adapt to fit into their needs? Self-Centered vs. WE… Decision Making… is so, so, so much easier… yet… so devoid of Unorthodoxly Amazing!

Q:  Is there hope for you, your relationships, your employer, Non-Profits, your efforts and / or the world overall?

 

A:  A resounding, “Yes”… but, it will take a lot of Grit!

 

Effective solutions always follow 3 paths:

  1. Vision for Possibilities (VfP) – Who sees what could be?
  2. Holistic-DMQ (Decision Making Quality) – What Holistic (vs. Serial Myopic) Decision need to be made, that enable the vision to become reality?
  3. Execution-Excellence (Ex-Ex) – Who actually does, what actually needs to be done, for the Holistic Decisions to be effectively and actually implemented?

Every personal and professional challenge can be overcome using these 3 paths… Period!

When you, me, your partner, your Inner-Circle, your organization, Non-Profits and our one, shared world begin making Holistic vs. Self-Centered Decisions… then… and only then… you’ll realize… it was worthwhile… for you to “bother to care”!
