What is the Price to You… for Resisting Influence?

“To listen well is as powerful a means of communication and influence as to talk well.”

The act of resisting intelligent influence, fortifies our current convictions while

sealing in our idea-deficient and rigid thinking positions!

When organizational leaders, with position authority take this approach, which is the most commonly observed style in U.S. organizations, it seals out the tremendous Intellectual Horsepower from the diverse, broad talent-base of employees and outside resources.

Thus; if 90%+ of an organization’s jugular decisions are made primarily by just 10 executives, with minimal (or often “token”) input from 1,000’s of other employees in large organizations for example… just imagine the 100’s of opportunities that are forfeited!

Let’s look at a few stone-walling strategies, closed-minded executives take.

1 – We’ve Already Tried that and it Didn’t Work – This is a quite popular response. Ask the question, “do the same people who are saying this… also have low-Execution-Excellence (Ex-Ex)… and are the ones who attempted to implement it”? Problem isolation identified!

2 – Has this Been Implemented at Another Organization Almost Identical to Us? – Again, quite a popular response. Ask the question, “Are you a leader or follower”? If it’s an intelligent solution and they do nothing… their Ex-Ex is the primary problem.

3 – It’s Not My Idea (in so many words) This is a stealthy reply that needs to be unmasked. Ask the question, “how much money would be added to your organization’s Net Income, if this idea was implemented effectively”? If the answer is a big, positive number and they don’t do it… the leadership problem has been identified.

4 – Our Plate is Full Now, so We’ll need to Table it for xx Months – Ahhh… the eloquent Procrastination Dance… how cute it is! Ask the question, “if you personally received 50%+ of the new Net Income produced by the idea, would you implement it sooner”? Their answer will tell all!

The privilege to lead a Purpose-Driven life is reserved for those who intelligently encourage others to influence them! The key competency, is the leader’s Holistic-DMQ (Decision Making Quality), in particular, the Holistic-DMQ sub-component, Inner-Circle-DMQ.

Developing the capacity to be influenced by your Inner-Circle is only helpful… if you’ve developed a High-DMQ Inner-Circle. Seems self-explanatory… but it is rarely implemented intelligently… because of the notorious and ever-present DMQ-Circular-Loop Syndrome.

.

Succinctly, in the DMQ-Circular-Loop Syndrome… for example, an “Objective-5.0” makes a decision about their Inner-Circle.

The Leadership Decision Making Quality (DMQ) Challenge / Opportunity

Subjectively, they think they’ve created a “9.0” Inner-Circle. But objectively, it’s a “5.0” Inner-Circle. Thus; 5.0 decisions keep getting made while not understanding why 9.0 outcomes aren’t being created.

Is there a Silver Bullet that can elevate your ability to intelligently be influenced?

Fortunately… or unfortunately… Yes!

The Silver Bullet… hire people more competent than yourself!

Who actually does this? Only the Top-8.5%+ leaders!

Thus; organizations with the best leaders get better… while organizations with less-than-stellar leaders… entrench mediocrity as they hire people into leadership positions who are less competent than themselves.

Our teams get a front-row seat… to watch this indisputable phenomenon play out daily!

.

That’s why we work almost exclusively with leading organizations in every industry… and not with the mediocre ones!
