At Least You Tried… Words Never Iterated by…

I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.

.

Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things,

learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world.

.

You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re doing something.

How many times have people told you, “at least you tried”?

How does that phrase make you feel, when others say it to you?

How many times have you said this phrase to others?

Do you ever get a sarcastic response back, after you say it to them?

The harsh reality… trying doesn’t change the world nor your life… unless the trying eventually leads to Actual-Do-ing!… which in reality… is quite rare!

In the business world, paradoxically, for most people in leadership positions, the more successful they are, based on the definition of success created by social norms (which is vastly different from the definition of genuine, purpose-driven success)… the less likely it is, they’ll pursue the opportunity to get better! Therefore; the less likely… they’ll actually become a better leader or person!

Why would having more success lead to not getting better…

since on the surface, this doesn’t seem to make sense?

There are a couple of crafty, misleading emotions and decisions playing out here that will engulf “sub-8.5” leaders.

Example:  Our teams have a 20+ year track record for adding millions of dollars to organizations’ bottom-lines; from 100+ F500’s and numerous mid-sized companies, universities, hospitals, federal and state organizations, etc. Seems like a no-brainer for any organizations to meet or work with us, since it’s at no net cost ($0.00) to them.

Q:  What’s the hardest part to putting $ Millions into an organization’s bottom-line?

A:  Interestingly… finding organizational leaders… who will let our teams add money to their bottom-line!

So… how does “trying”, which doesn’t change much, manifest and reveal itself in the real world?

  • Homelessness, hunger, etc., persists!
  • Low socioeconomic people… remain poor and rarely get the same opportunities availed to middle and upper-class people!
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion… predominantly, remains a façade that’s packaged with good intentions; rather than a genuine commitment to social change!

On the flipside… how do we actually change the world?

  • Stop rewarding words and start rewarding actions!
  • Stop checking boxes and start implementing intelligent choices!
  • Stop appearing to value diverse thinking and start leading with highly-engaged, diverse thinking!
