Synergy… the Masquerading 2-Edged-Sword

“Even if you strive diligently on your chosen path day after day,

if your heart is not in accord with it,

then even if you think you are on a good path,

from the point of view of the straight and true,

this is not a genuine path.

.

If you do not pursue a genuine path to its consummation,

then a little bit of crookedness in the mind will later turn into a major warp.

.

Reflect on this.”

Synergy… What a complex and fascinating 5-Dimensional topic!

One minute Synergy is the sword that slays your biggest fears.

The next minute, that same Synergy retaliates to generate the ultimate fear. How can it be both?

How many times have you fallen in love with the Synergy you’ve created professionally or personally, because it was pretty darn wonderful at the time (the 4th Dimension). You can include me, multiple times.

This is a common experience when someone starts a new job, gets a promotion, etc. How often does that Synergy become more powerful over time; and, how often does that Synergy eventually reveal the other side of its sword?

.

Ever have that sinking feeling that the synergy, from that once exciting opportunity, is beginning to dissipate? Synergy often masquerades as a life jacket when we’re in an ocean of chaos. However; even with our best justifications for those past decisions, over time we begin to realize… been there… done that… sigh!

Synergy is often a misunderstood concept, as most think it results

in a high-level of performance. This couldn’t be further from reality

and high-performance isn’t even an important ingredient with most Synergies.

Synergy is created when two or more mesh, during the same window of time, regardless of their competence levels, in ways that enable them to outperform, what either one could have achieved, on their own, during that unique window of time.

For example; two 7.0’s could combine to perform like a 9.0. The key is for each one to need and want the other during that unique window of time; and, for the gap between their performance levels, to not be significant (e.g. a difference of 3.0 or less, on a scale of 0.0 to 10.0).

There are times in life, where we just need to get oxygen to stay afloat. (I’ve been there multiple times!) A simple example of oxygen, is a job that pays the bills so you can pursue a greater purpose in your life.

.

Initially, there’s Synergy, and both of you need and want each other enough, so both of you strive to make it as positive as possible, which leads to both actually making it pretty darn good! This works extremely well, as long as there is genuine synergy or if there isn’t, the mind can keep the heart and soul out of the decision making (while getting the heart and soul to believe they are part of the decision making).

If the holistic performance gap between the two parties remains insignificant and the little gift of oblivion is sprinkled in, then harmonious synergy is shared and life is really, really good!

Unfortunately, if the holistic performance gap between the two parties widens, that sword, that was masquerading as your

protector, taps you on the shoulder and reminds you, life’s short, what do you passionately want to pursue? Go for it!

Why is Synergy so difficult to effectively find, to achieve your dreams in life? For most, their inability to communicate their highest aspirations of a Synergistic relationship. Thus; they settle for Good Enough or Great (who can blame them?)… but they know in their hearts and souls… it just isn’t Unorthodoxly Amazing!

Professionally; we’ve created a Synergistic Social Impact model, designed for Top Universities committed to living DEI.
