Why Are You Forfeiting So Much in Life?

“We forfeit three-quarters of ourselves in order to be like other people (in our tribe).”

~ Arthur Schopenhauer

Why is the gap for most people, between the life they could lead…

and the life they’re actually leading… so wide?

There’s one key attribute, when left underdeveloped from its full potential,

that will cunningly enable you to forfeit more Amazing in your life…

than you’ll actually experience!

Similar to Jim Collins book, “Good to Great”, where he articulates why, “Good is the enemy of Great”; so too are a leader’s qualities that are “Good”… but not “Great”.

.

This gap between Good and Great is created by your Genesis-DMQ

(Decision Making Quality)-Root. So, despite the “Red Carpet being rolled out for you,

sadly, most people still obliviously forfeit “Amazing” opportunities… forever!

Do you regularly run into people, both professionally and personally, who truly believe they’re doing Great things, but are actually, only doing Good Enough things, at best; especially those with the most wealth, power and influence who are only using a fraction of their capacity to do marginally more than those with little?

Your self “Good vs. Great” analysis, is one that must be ruthlessly analyzed with your heart and soul… not, your mind! When you become unbiasedly-one with your heart and soul, you genuinely begin to understand how objectively and beautifully unique you are, in a holistic way.

Interestingly… the impediment to this lovely journey of understanding yourself objectively, is your mind. It will selfishly prevent you from being genuine, with its noble, yet biased intention of sugar-coating your ego and self-esteem coupled with pleasing your need for control and to “fit into your tribe”. For most people, their mind serves as a dopamine infuser of positive justification, regardless if they’re objectively right, wrong, open-minded or close-minded.

The first step we need to take, in closing the gap between the life we’re leading and the life we’re forfeiting, is to acknowledge, in an unbiased way, who we really are… all of our awesome, okay and ugly attributes.

.

How can we improve from an objective “5.0” in an attribute,

if we don’t first acknowledge, we’re a “5.0” in that attribute? Our minds biasly tell us,

we’re an “8.0” or “9.0”, but our hearts and souls know the truth.

The key attribute, you need to examine from all 360 degrees… Appreciation!

Example of an Analogy, of our Talent Levels for an Attribute: Many of us played music, sports, etc., in K-12 and may have been very good. However, roughly:

  • Only 2 out of 100 high school athletes get college scholarships
  • Only 1 out of 250 college athletes go on to play professionally (Source: NCAA and NAIA statistics)
  • Only 1 out of 250 NFL professionals gets inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame

Comprehensive Appreciation… where is your talent level… is it equivalent

to a good high schooler, college talent, professional or Hall of Famer?

How many times have you thought you understood Appreciation,

only to realize later, you only had the Appreciation talent of a good high schooler?

What will you do today… to close the gap between the life you’re leading and the holistic life you could be leading?

Pursue Unorthodoxly Amazing… or don’t bother… that’s my recommendation!

Who are you… genuinely?

Are you Appreciative enough for your gifts, that you’re willing to actually use them,

to your potential, to actually change the world?
