“Knowing without loving is frankly dangerous for the soul and for society.
.
You’ll critique most everything you encounter and even have the hubris to call this mode of
reflexive cynicism “thinking” (whereas it’s really your ego’s narcissistic reaction to the moment).
.
You’ll position things to quickly as inferior or superior, “with me” or “against me,”
and most of the time you’ll be wrong.”
.
― Richard Rohr, The Divine Dance: The Trinity and Your Transformation

Early in life, most of us, and for some, their entire lives…
being intelligently-wrong… is something we desperately try to avoid!
However; for Top-7%’ers, being intelligently wrong is a total joy!
Are you part of the 93% crowd or
the Top-7% Intelligently-Wrong-as-Often-as Possible group?
.
Many people live in their Must-Be-Right-Almost-All-the-Time world. This falsely creates a cushiony environment, where the illusion of Selective-Control is vitally important. Yes; they believe they are right, in their limited-thinking environment, almost all the time. What’s not to like if you’re self-centered, in this shielded, tiny world… especially, if this is what you believe, keeps you mentally happy / comfortable?
The 93%-Crowd are right most of the time in their world, because they’ve created an environment around them, where they’re surrounded by people, environments and situations… where they can control or significantly influence the people and environments where they live and work. Thus; they enable this self-fulfilling prophesy of being right, albeit only in their tiny world.
They can masterfully defend against the invasion of new ideas, diverse-thinking people, etc., to keep people from entering and upsetting their world. It’s quite understandable. But; this environment is extremely unattractive to Top-7%’ers.
Vulnerability is a feared and unwelcome concept to the 93%-Crowd!
.
Meanwhile; vulnerability is Unorthodoxly-Amazing to the Top-7%’ers!

Bringing it All Together: Here’s the kicker question… do people ever switch from the 93%-Crowd or Top-7%-Group… from where they were, when they were 20-Something, as they travel the remainder of their life journeys?
What do you think?
Personally, I absolutely love being intelligently-wrong, especially on important, life-changing beliefs, because it changes my future self! Recently; I realized how wrong I was regarding something that happened in my life about three years ago. It took until now, and three years of experience pursuing what I thought was best; only to realize, the way I saw something… was wrong. I had to rewrite some of my stubborn, deeply-seeded scripts, that weren’t serving me well.
The key question driving DMQ (Decision Making Quality) on this life topic, is, “Do people really change much from their 20-Something selves as they travel life’s journey”? My original thinking was, “sure”; thinking that we all get wiser, add more experience, etc. I now believe, I was dead wrong!
Our DMQ-Engine doesn’t actually change much, as we move into our 30’s, 40’s, etc. The complicated part about this topic; we do get exposed to new situations naturally through the aging process. However; we’re still using the same DMQ-Engine! We’re just providing our same DMQ-Engine with additional inputs, that are naturally incorporated as a result of more experiences, as the years roll past us.
.
Thus; expecting a 20-Something in the 93%-Crowd, to be a better decision maker, more appreciative, understand what they’re looking for in life, etc., as they age into their 30’s, 40’s etc., is simply… inaccurate decision making!.

We really don’t get better, we merely get an older version of our same DMQ-Engine. Sure; there is the façade of wisdom that naturally comes along with age, regardless of your DMQ-Engine, simply because you’ve been exposed to more!
Thus; age… truly is just a number! Providing patience, support and open-mindedness, as a form of emotional oxygen, to Top-7%’ers who are 20-Somethings or 30-Somethings, with 8.5+ (scale of 0.0 to 10.0) DMQ-Engines, is far more intelligent than thinking 5.0’s to 7.5’s in the 93%-Crowd, will magically jump up to an 8.5+, as they get older. It rarely happens!
Unlike wine, which gets better with age, our DMQ-Engines don’t change much over time. For example, if you’re in the Top-7%-Group, you’ll be:
- Open-Minded at 30; and be much more open-minded as you grow older
- Appreciative at 30; and be much more appreciative as you grow older
- Unorthodoxly-Amazing / A Unicorn when you’re 30, and be off-the-charts Unorthodoxly-Amazing as you grow older
That humble pie of seeing this wrongly, that I’m enjoying right now is so, so delicious;
albeit sadly, a few years stale!
How many and how tasty are your humble pies?
If you’re in the Top-7%-Group, what action steps will you actually take at the “Humble Pie Dessert Buffett”, to invite those whom you’ve pushed away in your life, to discuss your previously flawed DMQ-Engine?
What opportunities have you previously passed over, personally, professionally or aligned with Social Impact?
