How Good Are You at Resisting Influence?

“Our minds influence the key activity of the brain, which then influences everything; perception,

cognition, thoughts and feelings, personal relationships; they’re all a projection of you.”

Deepak Chopra

monochrome-photo-of-man-sitting-on-ladder-3375230

Resisting influence fortifies your convictions!

Further, it helps to inoculate you against future, similar attacks!

Lastly, it solidifies your positions that protect your self-esteem!

Personal growth… such an admirable goal; yet so elusive for most people.

Locking in your position, resisting intelligent influence, fortifying your convictions, etc., closes off your ability to grow and caps your potential in life!

.

What if… the information you’re receiving… could possibly…

improve your future DMQ (Decision Making Quality) and ultimately your life?

Let’s step back for a second. There is a lot of “noise” on social media, in personal conversations, etc., that isn’t constructive or helpful to you. Thus; filtering out the worthless “noise” requires your Holistic-DMQ. The higher your Holistic-DMQ… the better your filter; while, the lower your Holistic-DMQ… the worse your filter.

What about that rare information your receive, that could elevate your thinking and more importantly… improve your decision-making while increasing the effectiveness of how you implement that knowledge? Demonstrating (i.e. actually doing) exceptional DMQ and Execution-Excellence… will enable you to lead an Unorthodoxly-Amazing, Purpose-Driven Life?

pexels-fauxels-3182829
The Leadership Decision Making Quality (DMQ) Challenge / Opportunity

Objectively you’ll need to rate your Holistic-DMQ; on a scale of 0.0 to 10.0 (being the highest). Now, the higher your Objective-Holistic-DMQ, the more “noise” you’ll hear.

But… a phenomenal transformation will take place. The higher your Objective-Holistic-DMQ… the more you’ll become a sponge for elevated knowledge! In-turn; you find more “golden nuggets of knowledge”, become more intelligent about scrubbing out “noise” seamlessly and continue elevating your Objective-Holistic-DMQ.

Warning:  The DMQ-Circular-Loop Syndrome will be hard at work! A full explanation is in my Holistic Leadership Book, “Get MAD! (Making A Difference!) – 7 Keys to Being an Admired, Kick-Ass Leader”.

For example, the DMQ-Circular-Loop Syndrome takes place when one uses their Subjective-DMQ to rank themself as a “9.0”; but Objectively; they’re a “5.0”. Thus; they’ve overrated themself as a “9.0”, demonstrating their Objective-DMQ of a “5.0”. So… the vicious cycle just repeats itself in every aspect of their life.

Take a viciously hard look at your DMQ and

figure out how much you’ve been forfeiting by resisting intelligent influence!

Change… today… fast… never look back… life’s too short to not get better every day!

How Does the… “I’m Here Now”, Thinking… Impact You?

“Every battle is won before it is ever fought.”  ~  Sun Tzu

4k-wallpaper-bird-s-eye-view-crossroad-2251409

Jugular Life Forks…

those treacherous decision points that permanently change our lives forever!

Jugular Life Forks are:

   1. Planted by us well before we arrive at them;

   2. Nurtured unconsciously over time by us; and then,

   3. Already harvested by us, before we ever reach them.

Our Holistic-DMQ (Decision Making Quality) is the planter, nurturer and harvester!

.

There are two distinct approaches we can take, to these Jugular Life Forks… each path has its own unique and significantly different benefits and consequences.

Approach #1:  I’m Here Now, Thinking – In this popularly observed approach, people take a step-by-step decision-making process using short-range decision making. This is wonderfully fluid and flexible while living on an almost day-by-day decision-making horizon.

Professionally for example, you decide whether to go to your job on a day-by-day basis… based on the current situation.

Personally for example, you decide whether to stay in a relationships on a day-by-day basis… based on your current situation.

pexels-cynthia-diaz-6959050
pexels-monstera-7114755

Approach #2:  Here’s Where I’m Going – In this rarely observed approach, people use outcome-based decision making. They only see the macro benchmarks that need to take place while filling in the details during the journey, that will deliver their desired outcomes and get them where they want to go.

Professionally for example, you decide each outcome you want to pursue and then use your year-by-year work ethic and decision making to enable a high probability (no guarantees!) for achieving your desired outcomes.

Personally for example, you determine what you want from a relationship by the end of it and then return back to present day, to make decisions, that enable the highest probability for achieving your desired outcomes.

Thus; with Here’s Where I’m Going, when you get to your actual, Jugular Life Forks… you’ve already enabled your desired options to be pursued. Consistent with Sun Tzu’s quote, the forks you prefer, have already been enabled.

If you’re a Here’s Where I’m Going decision maker, all the attractive options will be availed at your Jugular Forks. Whereas, if you’re a I’m Here’s Now, Thinker, your options at the Jugular forks will be limited, based on your lack of outcome-based enablement.

How do we handle the conflicts that naturally occur between which of the two paths to pursue; I’m Here Now, Thinking and Here’s Where I’m Going?

.

The answer isn’t so simple. In general… most people don’t handle it well. Typically, one approach or the other consistently wins out, based on the level of one’s Holistic-DMQ.

grayscale-photo-of-man-thinking-in-front-of-analog-wall-1194196

Compromises made between these two approaches, most often leads to sub-optimized outcomes for all parties involved! The rare exception occurs when all parties have a Vision for Possibility (VfP) of what could be and they choose to make decision-adjustments that enable an elevated, mutually beneficial, We-Oriented outcome, to be created.

As you ponder the various Jugular Life Forks you’ve already passed and the ones you are now creating through your Holistic-DMQ, a key exercise to consider, is looking at the 5-Minute Highlight Video of Your Life (discussed in multiple other blogs).

What summary of your life… do you want to see?

Now… go out and create those beautiful possibilities so you’re ecstatic when you watch your 5-Minute Highlight Video!

Empowering Women Leaders for Social Impact: Catalysts for Change (Part 3 of 3)

As we conclude our thought-provoking three-part series, it’s time to unravel a central attribute distinguishing remarkable leaders – Leadership Presence.

We celebrated women as catalysts for change and explored avenues for breaking educational barriers.

Let us demystify the magnetic triad of gravitas, communication and appearance for establishing impactful and authentic leadership, a cornerstone for sustained organizational growth and social impact.

attractive-beautiful-eyes-beautiful-woman-2530720

Story Spotlight: Dr. Renu Khator serves as an exemplar of leadership presence in American higher education.

As the Chancellor of the University of Houston System and President of the University of Houston, she has been a tenacious advocate for educational excellence and community engagement. Under her stewardship, the University has seen remarkable growth and gained prestige.

Her gravitas lies in her visionary leadership and commitment to student success. She communicates with clarity and passion, and her appearance always reflects professionalism and poise. Her initiatives have fostered greater access to education and have had a substantial social impact on the community.

Leadership Presence Unleashed:

Leadership presence, the captivating essence enveloping successful leaders, encompasses the art of being and showing oneself.

It harmonizes how leaders communicate, the depth they bring through expertise (gravitas) and their authentic demeanor (appearance). For women leaders, cultivating this presence is paramount in creating a lasting impact on society.

The Bedrock – Gravitas:

A. Defining Gravitas: Gravitas is the bedrock of leadership presence emanating from expertise, confidence and integrity. It showcases a leader’s ability to command respect, influence and drive meaningful change.

.

B. Nurturing Gravitas:

  • Deepening Expertise: Continuously pursue knowledge, develop professionally and become an authority in your field.
  • Confidence and Poise: Cultivate self-assurance, demonstrate grace under pressure and radiate a sense of calm.
  • Ethical Leadership: Uphold integrity, ethical conduct and transparency in decision-making.

The Bridge – Communication:

A.  The Essence of Communication: Communication is the vital bridge that connects a leader’s vision, influence and action. Effective communication inspires others, fosters collaboration and propels social impact.

B. Refining Communication Skills:

  • Clarity and Conciseness: Craft compelling messages with clarity, brevity and impact.
  • Active Listening and Empathy: Develop strong listening skills, show genuine empathy and value diverse perspectives.
  • Storytelling: Harness the power of storytelling to inspire and connect with others on an emotional level.

.

Actionable Tip: Practice active listening by summarizing critical points during conversations and meetings to ensure understanding and foster engagement.

blackboard-chalk-chalkboard-21696

The Mirror – Appearance: More than meets the eye.

A. Authenticity in Appearance: Like a ship, Appearance carries the leader. It goes beyond attire; it reflects the leader’s values and authenticity.

Embracing authenticity in one’s appearance enhances leadership presence and establishes a genuine connection with others.

B. Presenting Your Authentic Self:

  • Honor Your Body: Dress to celebrate and respect your unique body shape, size and features. Use colors that harmonize with you physically and psychologically.
  • Reflect Your Values: Choose clothing that aligns with your personal and professional values, sending a powerful message to others.
  • Express Your Personality: Infuse your style into your wardrobe, letting it reflect who you are and what you stand for.
  • Reflecting Personal Brand: Align your Appearance with your values, style and brand identity.
  • Dressing for Impact: Tailor appearance according to cultural and professional settings. Dress professionally and appropriately for various occasions while incorporating elements that express your unique personality.
  • Color Psychology: Harness the power of colors to resonate with your brand and message.

Actionable Tip: Develop a signature style that communicates your brand and values. Periodically reassess this style for alignment with your evolving professional journey.

Consider working with an image consultant to refine your brand and ensure your appearance aligns with your natural features, personality, values, purpose and leadership style.

The Power of Leadership Presence:

When harnessed effectively, leadership presence catalyzes driving social impact and creating meaningful societal change. By embodying authenticity, leaders bridge the gap between vision, influence and action.

As this series concludes, it is manifest that leadership presence is the magnifier of influential and impactful leadership.

Women leaders can create transformative change by cultivating character and gravitas, honing communication and reflecting authenticity through appearance.

This metamorphosis not only reinforces organizations but generates an enduring social impact.

Empowering Women Leaders for Social Impact: Catalysts for Change (Part 2 of 3)

In the first blog post (part 1 of 3), we delved into how women executives act as catalysts in driving Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, leveraging their unique perspectives and collaborative leadership styles.

As we continue our journey (with Part 2) in this three-blog post series, we shift our focus to a crucial arena where leadership is cultivated – higher education.

In this second post, we will explore how universities and social impact organizations can join forces to empower women’s leadership through scholarships, mentorship and collaborations that are grounded in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) principles.

pexels-antoni-shkraba-7163375

The role of women in leadership positions is pivotal to the advancement of society. In higher education, fostering women’s leadership and driving social impact requires a multifaceted approach.

This post sheds light on the necessity of challenging existing norms, addressing barriers, adopting new strategies for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), and emphasizes the role of collaboration between universities, their corporate partners and social impact organizations in creating fully-founded scholarships with an intelligent support system.

Rethinking Women’s Leadership and Incorporating DEI Principles

.

To empower women’s leadership in higher education, it is essential to challenge and redefine the prevailing norms. This involves actively confronting obstacles and adopting innovative strategies that promote DEI. These strategies must be woven into effective institutional policies and practices, creating an environment where women from diverse backgrounds can concretely thrive.

Financial Empowerment through Collaborative Scholarships

.

A. The Challenge: Financial barriers often impede talented women from underrepresented backgrounds from pursuing higher education and leadership positions. For example, a report by the American Association of University Women (AAUW) indicates that women hold nearly two-thirds of the outstanding student debt in the United States.

https://www.aauw.org/issues/education/student-debt/

B. The Collaborative Solution:  Universities can ally with social impact organizations to establish fully funded scholarships tailored for aspiring women leaders. These collaborations should be backed by thoughtful planning, substantial funding and a mutual commitment to DEI principles.

C. Holistic Support:  Scholarships must extend beyond financial assistance and encompass mentorship, internships and career guidance.

.

The partnership between Universities, their Corporate Partners and Social Impact Organizations must involve mentorship from industry leaders and internships at top companies, equipping recipients with vital skills and experiences.

pexels-joshua-mcknight-1139319

Impact on Systemic Transformation – Collaborative efforts catalyze broader systemic transformation. By actively incorporating DEI principles in scholarship initiatives, universities reaffirm their dedication to nurturing a diverse and inclusive talent pool.

According to a study published in the Journal of Higher Education Management, diversity in higher education leadership significantly contributes to innovation and improved decision-making.

https://www2.ed.gov/rschstat/research/pubs/advancing-diversity-inclusion.pdf

Addressing Potential Challenges – It’s essential to recognize that while establishing collaborations is necessary, it’s challenging. These include aligning organizational goals, ensuring transparency and managing expectations. Addressing these challenges requires open communication, clearly defined roles and continuous evaluation of the partnership’s efficacy.

In conclusion, elevating women’s leadership in higher education mandates reexamining traditional approaches and forging collaborations between universities and social impact organizations.

The Power of Women Leaders in Driving Social Change

Corporations have recognized the need to extend their role beyond profit-making and market dominance in an ever-evolving world. They now embrace the responsibility to impact society and the environment positively. This realization has given rise to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), a powerful tool for driving social change. Within the CSR realm, women executives are vital in leading these efforts. In this blog post, we will delve into the significant contributions of women executives in driving CSR initiatives and explore how they serve as catalysts for social impact.

The Ascendancy of CSR and Its Multifaceted Benefits

Corporate Social Responsibility has garnered immense importance in today’s business landscape. It transcends mere philanthropy and embodies a holistic approach to address social, environmental, and economic challenges. As a result, companies can reap numerous benefits by integrating CSR into their core business strategies.

For example, according to a study conducted by MSCI, companies with substantial gender diversity at the executive level outperformed their peers, yielding a 36.4% higher return on equity.

pexels-joshua-mcknight-1139319

Women Executives Pioneering the Path

Women executives are making remarkable strides in driving CSR initiatives. They bring unique perspectives, empathy, and collaborative leadership styles that are indispensable in effectively addressing social and environmental issues.

Let’s look at inspiring real-life examples of women executives who have championed CSR programs within universities, utilizing their influence and networks to make a meaningful impact.

Example 1: Dr. Shirley Malcom – Promoting Diversity in Science and Research

Dr. Shirley Malcom, Senior Advisor and Director of the Education and Human Resources Programs at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), has been a leading advocate for diversity in science and research. She has been crucial in developing initiatives to increase underrepresented groups’ representation in STEM, including women.

Through programs like the AAAS IF/THEN® Ambassadors, Dr. Malcom has inspired and empowered women scientists to become role models and significantly impact their respective fields.

Example 2: Dianne F. Harrison – Driving Social Impact through the Dream Center

Dianne F. Harrison, former President of California State University, Northridge (CSUN), played a pivotal role in establishing the CSUN Dream Center. The Dream Center is a comprehensive program that supports undocumented students, providing them with resources, mentorship, and academic assistance.

Overcoming Challenges and Fostering Innovation

Women executives are crucial in driving CSR initiatives and creating positive social impact. By overcoming challenges, fostering innovation, and cultivating a unique leadership presence, women leaders bring valuable perspectives and expertise to the table.

Establishing specific women leadership programs, promoting mentorship and sponsorship, and addressing systemic barriers are key steps to empowering women executives and maximizing their contributions to CSR and social change.

Women executives display remarkable resilience in surmounting these systematic barriers. A report by McKinsey & Company highlights that companies in the top quartile for gender diversity on executive teams are 25% more likely to have above-average profitability. Women executives leverage their skills, expertise, and unwavering determination to drive innovation and implement transformative CSR strategies.

Collaborative Approaches and the Road Ahead

To maximize the potential for social impact, fostering collaboration among universities, non-profits, and government entities is crucial. According to the Global Gender Gap Report 2021 by the World Economic Forum, achieving gender parity will require collaboration and shared responsibility across sectors. University women executives possess a unique ability to unite diverse stakeholders, fostering cooperation and collective action.

To maximize the potential for social impact, fostering collaboration among universities, non-profits, government entities, and innovative organizations is crucial. These collaborations bring together diverse perspectives, resources, and expertise to address societal challenges effectively. One such organization at the intersection of collaborative leadership and social impact is IPG Social Impact. IPG Social Impact works closely with universities and their corporate partners to generate new scholarships and offers Sustainable Net Income solutions that drive intelligent social impact.

Collaboration between universities and IPG Social Impact provides a unique opportunity to create sustainable funding models that support social initiatives. By leveraging IPG Social Impact’s expertise and corporate partners’ resources, universities can establish scholarship programs that empower students from underrepresented backgrounds and foster social mobility. This collaboration benefits the individual students and creates a more inclusive and equitable society.

IPG Social Impact’s Sustainable Net Income solutions enable universities and their corporate partners to align their goals and resources to address pressing social and environmental issues. By investing in projects that generate both financial returns and positive social impact, these collaborations drive meaningful change. This approach allows universities and their corporate partners to go beyond traditional philanthropy and embrace a sustainable and integrated social responsibility model.

In the future, it is crucial to continue fostering collaboration among universities, non-profits, government entities, and organizations like IPG Social Impact. These collaborative efforts provide avenues for knowledge sharing, resource pooling, and impactful partnerships. By embracing these collaborations, universities can unlock new opportunities to drive social impact and create a more sustainable and equitable future.

Unleashing the Power of Women Leaders

University female executives are at the forefront of driving corporate social responsibility and creating a positive social impact. Through their leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to making a difference, they are transforming how academic institutions engage with society. As we forge ahead, we must continue to support and empower women executives, recognizing their invaluable contributions in driving CSR initiatives. By harnessing the collective power of women leaders in universities, we can pave the way toward a more sustainable, equitable, and socially responsible future for all.

Relationship Building: How Can You Optimize Your Emotional Intelligence?

“Passion is one great force that unleashes creativity, because if you’re passionate about something,

then you’re more willing to take risks.”

.

~ Yo-Yo Ma

.

“Intelligent risk taking… the only places where Holistic, Unorthodoxly-Amazing hides!”

.

~ James Roncevich

photo-of-woman-putting-her-finger-on-her-lips-1759406

How important is emotional intelligence in your professional and personal relationship development choices?

What experiences have you had that were awesome, to terrible?

There is a seldom utilized secret that only those with the highest emotional intelligence implement when things don’t appear to go well.

Preserving other people’s self-esteem isn’t always easy… or is it?

What if you could help people who aren’t selected, feel good about not being selected?

This is yet another fascinatingly complex topic to discuss!

Chemistry:  We’re going to combine people’s DMQ-Inner-Circle (DMQ=Decision Making Quality) with a paradoxical approach to creating the best outcomes for all parties.

Basics:  We know people obviously use their DMQ, to select, who is in their Inner-Circle. Thus; people merely reflect the views of their Inner-Circle. If an individual’s Holistic-DMQ is less than 8.5 (scale = 0.0 to 10.0), they’ll select people for their Inner-Circle who primarily “affirm” their decisions; not “inform” them of the strengths and flaws in their decision-making process.

accomplishment-accuracy-accurate-achievement-226579
art-artistic-blank-616849

The Secret:  People with extremely high Holistic-DMQ and Emotional Intelligence… will read the DMQ of not just the individual, but also the individual’s Inner-Circle… via the individual… and then respond in the way the individual and their Inner-Circle… thought they would, if they’re a sub-8.5.

Voila! Helping the individual and their Inner-Circle feel they made the right decision, by

responding the way they thought you would, reinforces the individual’s and Inner-Circle’s self-esteem!

Summary of the Process:  Unfortunately, the process is quite complex, and this blog is an insufficient space to describe it in detail. Thus; I’ll merely summarize the process.

In the Relationship Building process, the use of aggressive (vs. safe) opportunities, language and requests are key to understanding whether the relationship fit is going to be amazing, good-enough or not-so-good.

Providing people significant opportunities quickly in the relationship, to demonstrate their talents and commitment levels, will tell you a lot about them and their Inner-Circle. For example, providing unproven people with the opportunity to work with your largest opportunities, earn a 7-figure income, etc., doesn’t seem to make sense. Paradoxically, it is a brilliant way to understand them quickly. Gold Medalists thrive on these types of opportunities while Wanna-Be-Medalists shrink!

appreciation-art-design-424517

People with the rare combination of high Intellectual-Horsepower, DMQ and Ex-Ex (Execution-Excellence), will ask powerful questions

and seize the biggest opportunities. Most people won’t have this combination and will self-cleanse out of opportunities / your life.

Thus; when most people self-cleanse out of the opportunity or your life… simply respond using high Emotional Intelligence, in the same way you believe the individual’s Inner-Circle expects you to respond, so they feel they were “right”.

For those rare people who seize the opportunities and do the work to pursue an Unorthodoxly-Amazing Journey with you…

they will make your journey indescribably beautiful… year-after-year!

Want to Change Your Life or the World? Two Actions!

“It’s not the load that breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it.”

.

~ Lou Holtz

pexels-karl-rayson-16537139

How many full years, in your adult life, have been not just good, great or amazing part of the time; but Holistically Amazing?

In asking this question to numerous people, all but one has offered the same one or both of these answers:

1 – Less than one

2 – But this next time, it’ll be…

Fascinating… especially in light of people being in their 30’s, 40’s, etc., having been married one or more times and having children with their chosen partners… yet none of the years, they believed, qualified as being amazing!

So… what are two basic actions you can take, to turn it around for you?

You may want to consider these actions. I’ll go all the way back to my best coach in High School (albeit an odd analogy). Nonetheless; the two actions have their origination there.

Racing the 400 Meters: If you’ve run this distance, you’ll know most High Schoolers aren’t able to break the 60-second mark and the best in the state, run just under 50 seconds. For me; I was close to that 50-second mark. But, this blog isn’t about track; rather, it’s about learning how to get better at life, using this track analogy.

There are two ways to get faster on the track or better in life; 1) intelligently lightening your load; and 2) intelligently increasing your speed.

pexels-merabtine-abdelaziz-2406294
2022-04-a-Child-Carrying-Water

Lightening Your Load:  In track, practicing wearing a weighted vest, slowed me down by about 5 seconds in the 400. Thus; practicing with the vest on was difficult. When I unloaded the vest, running was so much easier.

In life, we have people who act as weights in our lives, who ultimately make self-centered decisions, which makes your life heavier and their life lighter. When you unload the people who add weight, you’re lighter and have more energy for leading a Purpose-Driven Life.

Yes; this is easier said than done, but there are ways to sophisticatedly enable others to self-cleanse out of your life. A fascinating topic for another blog.

Increasing Your Speed:  In track, the shoes you wear are critical. In practice, you’re looking to protect and preserve your feet, while in races you’re looking for the best speed shoe. Switching from a supportive shoe to a speed shoe reduced my time by 2 seconds.

Two seconds quicker in a 400, or about 20 meters, is like night and day in a race. The same goes for life. Find the people who are similar to the speed shoe who consistently help accelerate your success, year-after-year… and return the favor to them, year-after- year!

Execution of These Two Actions:  Holistic-DMQ (Decision Making Quality) is yet again, key. If a “3.0”, “5.0”, etc., reads this and then attempts to implement it, their success level will be directly aligned with their Holistic-DMQ level and therefore correlate to their unique definition and capacity for success. Viola!

Key Talent Segmentation Modeling

Thus; anyone can be successful in their own special way! At one extreme, there are people who look for a sugar-parent that’ll make their life comfortable and they consider themselves to be successful. Contentedness… It’s Just 1 Decision Away for Anyone!

“Ambition and contentment are two opposite ends of human nature.

An ambitious person will continue to discover his drive and reasons for growth until his last breath,

while a contented person finds happiness in what is bestowed upon him”

.

― Roopesh Tiwari

adult-beautiful-beauty-620074 (2)

Do you get asked, “why are you so happy”, year after year… as often as I do?

If you just get this one decision right… you’ll be set for happiness, regardless if you’re a “3.0”, “5.0” or a “9.0+”!

Surround yourself with people, who have a similar Holistic-DMQ (Decision Making Quality)

as yourself!

That’s it!

“3.0’s” Surrounded by “3.0’s” will believe they’re “9.0+’s” and be happy, “5.0’s” surrounded by “5.0’s” will believe they’re “9.0+’s” and be happy, etc.

Further; when you’re with people in your Inner-Circles of equivalent DMQ’s, they’ll reinforce your happiness and you’ll genuinely feel that life’s amazing! What a beautiful dance of life!

If you’re an “Objective-9.0+”, don’t criticize, belittle, etc., others! Rather, authentically fan the flames of their happiness, regardless if they’re less than an “Objective-7.0” and appreciate how blessed you are to be an “Objective-9.0”!

Always say, “thank you, for being you”, to everyone, to support their happiness, self-esteem, etc.

.

I was reflecting on another great month and this topic was just so blatantly obvious every day. The “9.0’s” we’re working with make our lives and other’s lives beautiful. When we meet with the “Sub-7.0’s”… we just compliment them on what they’re doing well, fan their happiness and let them self-cleanse out of our lives back into their content and comfortable, equivalent Inner-Circles. Win-Win!.

Objectively (regardless if we like it or not), 84% of Leaders, Talent, Profits, etc. are

What a humbling month… amazing people, whom I think the world of and have known for 20+ years, just keep reaching out to me to say, “how can I help and how can I get involved” and then actually help, provide referrals to the C-Suite, etc.

Reflecting – The “Objective-9.0+’s” all have amazing clarity in the core-competency VfP (Vision for Possibility, a term I created for my Holistic Leadership book). This is especially important when we are under pressure. In these situations, there is a natural bifurcation. Most people’s VfP, Holistic-DMQ and Ex-Ex (Execution-Excellence) deteriorates drastically when they think (important) they are under stress, pressure, etc. Sadly, this; exasperates their “sub-7.0” level in a downward exponential way.

Contentedness for those rare Unorthodoxly-Amazing people is even more complex and elusive. In the last week, my definition of Unorthodoxly Amazing (which I created for my writing)… stretched even wider!

.

Do you love learning as much as I do?

.

Most people focus on grabbing the “Golden Eggs” and leave thinking they won… unwittingly

forfeiting the opportunity to build Holistically Interdependent relationships with the Golden Geese!

Are You Drinking the Lifestyle Package Cocktail?

“Your genetics load the gun. Your lifestyle pulls the trigger.”  ~ Mehmet Oz

“A lifestyle is what you pay for; a life is what pays you.” ~ Thomas Leonard

.

“Self-centered indulgence, pride and a lack of shame over sin are now emblems

It is time to re-examine some of our deeply held notions that underlie our lifestyles.”

.

~ David Suzuki

pexels-luis-ruiz-954539 (1)

Just pause for a moment to look at the world, as objectively as you can.

What do you see?  Look really, really hard!

Now… look in the mirror… this is your and my world!

Our world is an ecosystem of our individual values, combined to create the collective values in our world. Thus; if our individual values were in alignment with making the world a better place for everyone, not just ourselves, the world would live in harmony!

Unfortunately, the majority of people make their decisions predominantly based on how to improve their personal Lifestyle Package.

People will block progress for others, lie, throw others under the bus, do things in the name of “love” for their children… all while justifying their decisions; then surrounding themselves with like-minded decision makers… so they feel good about their less-than-stellar decisions to protect or enhance their personal Lifestyle Package.

Most, make decisions based on the Lifestyle Package Cocktail, which is mixed and everyone in their Inner-Circle is drinking it… while telling each other how brilliant they are! The Lifestyle Package Cocktail has 3 main ingredients.

  1. Privileges – You just have opportunities, most people don’t… and you don’t want to lose these privileges.
  2. Thread of Self-Centeredness – Every decision puts you first… period! Many will camouflage this thread by claiming, its what’s best for the company, children, etc. Most of the time… it’s just a camouflaged lie… it’s really about what’s best for themselves!
  3. Gift of Oblivion – What a wonderful gift for the majority who have it! This gift enables them to make decisions based on these 3 ingredients, while being completely oblivious to the reality that it’s about themselves… not what’s best for their organization, children or others.
pexels-brett-sayles-4734936
pexels-johannes-plenio-2816284

If you weren’t fortunate (or extremely fortunate, depending on how you see it) enough to get the Gift of Oblivion… you can watch this play out almost in slow-motion, time and again with people’s decisions. Yet, they’ll honestly, with only the best intentions, tell you they don’t have it. This honest denial, demonstrates the wonderful, blind circularity of the Gift.

The best part, for those without the Lifestyle Package Cocktail… the ones with it, will self-cleanse out of your life and feel wonderful about their decisions! Further, the ones without the Cocktail will find their way into your life.

Not only should you be kind to those who self-cleanse out of your life, but you should go out of your way to help them preserve their self-esteem, support their decision making and be honest but not negative. This will help you elevate your appreciation muscles.

Appreciating that you don’t think like those who pursue the Lifestyle Package Cocktail; while you’re contributing primarily to helping the world become a better place… is building your Appreciation Muscles. These muscles in turn, enable you to lead a Purpose-Driven Life!

Personally, I had just enough economically growing up, paid my way through college, made a lot of money in my corner-office corporate career, got divorced and had to start over. It was the best thing that ever happened to me.

I learned to love unconditionally, give unconditionally and center all my energies on helping others. Funny… before this happened, I honestly thought I knew how to do this, but I was a 2.5 at it and didn’t have a clue how far from a 9.0 I was. An Unorthodoxly-Amazing woman showed me the difference between Great and Amazing about four years ago… opening my eyes that I didn’t even realize were closed… to Unorthodoxly-Amazing!

pexels-karl-rayson-16537139

Now… earning money is merely the byproduct of helping others. Most people don’t understand nor appreciate who I’ve become, which bothered me at first. Then, it made total sense… although they were well-intentioned people, they were drinking the Lifestyle Package Cocktail! Those with the Lifestyle Package Cocktail won’t understand nor appreciate you, so they’ll self-cleanse out of your life. Be kind, they were just doing the best they could and most are good, well-intentioned people.

In the years following my divorce… the litmus test I use with female relationships… is to observe, without sharing that I’m observing (so as to not enable them to create a temporary façade)… how committed they are to themselves vs. others!

I’m still looking for the one who will consistently pass this evidently brutal test! 😊

In all my professional relationships, I’m not permitted to share all the wonderful things our partners’ spouses are doing, because they want to remain anonymous… from giving away thousands anonymously for those in need to working 500+ hours a year volunteering at Non-Profits. How beautiful is it to work with amazing people who happen to be exceptional professionally!

Objectively… where are you on the Lifestyle Package Continuum?

Are you a University Leader who wants to change 1,000’s of tomorrow’s leaders’ lives?

Would your university love to raise another $10, $50 or $100+ Million for Scholarships?

The Prosociality Paradox… How Proactively Kind Are You?

“The paradox is that hedonism, the pursuit of pleasure for it’s own sake, leads to anhedonia.

Which is the inability to enjoy pleasure of any kind.”

.

~ Anna Lembke

.

“Paradoxically… intelligently giving of yourself is the most self-centered thing you can do!

Why?

Because it gives you the privilege to lead a Purpose-Driven, Unorthodoxly-Amazing Life!

.

~ James Roncevich

art-artsy-blue-1988698

Research has proven numerous times, expressing gratitude improves our own well-being.

Do you find this to be true for yourself?

Paradoxically, we are often reluctant to give or ask for help; yet we know it would be mentally healthy for both the giver and receiver.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, what happens when you make decisions that are the opposite of kind, are misleading or when you commit the sin of omission… all while using self-justifying internal talk to make yourself feel good?

How often do you ante up the courage to unconditionally help others, especially total strangers or those who’ve gone out of their way to throw rocks at you (which is arguably the most rewarding prosociality acts you can bless yourself with)? Personally; I’ve learned how to give help anonymously, unless someone insists on knowing who I am… and each, big or small, is such a beautiful experience!

Privilege… this is a topic I’ve shared with my children, about themselves, myself and their mother… we, through sheer dumb luck, have been blessed with the opportunity to learn, work, etc., in nearly any capacity we’ve wanted. Most people in the world do not enjoy this privilege.

black-and-white-close-up-dark-167964
cash-dollars-hands-money-271168

The more you recognize how privileged you are… the more you want to give back, the less self-centered and self-justifying are your decisions… which in-turn… improves your well-being in an Unorthodoxly-Amazing spiral upward!

On the contrary, many parents who lack sufficient gratitude associated with privileges, often coddle their children under the auspicious of “love”. Many of these children grow up to expect the rest of the world to coddle them. Unfortunately, this can manifest itself in a downward spiral of less-than-stellar decision making focused on self-centeredness and good-enough comfort.

So what could be one key antidote for helping yourself, your children,

your family, your co-workers, etc.?

How about a healthy dose of Appreciation Muscle Development,

since gratitude improves your own well-being!

Karma has been overflowing my cup and the more it overflows, the more I’ve given of my time, resources and kindness.

Beware, as Karma can have a tricky timing schedule in which both Good and Bad Karma often manifests itself in windows of time not directly associated with your good or bad deeds.

pexels-fotografierende-1721092

Further; Bad Karma is a Master of Deception. It can lull you into believing your current opportunities are wonderful; only to set you up for long-term misery. Thus; to be safer, consistently and actively show kindness to all those with whom you interact… courageously practice prosociality!

What are you doing to be proactively kind to others and enjoy the priceless value of the Prosociality Paradox?

𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝑻𝒐𝒓𝒄𝒉’𝒔 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝑫𝒊𝒆𝒔…

“Our chief want in life is somebody who will make us do what we can.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson

.

“A mentor is someone who sees more talent and ability within you, than you see in yourself,

and helps bring it out of you.” — Bob Proctor

.

“The mind is not a vessel that needs filling, but wood that needs igniting.” — Plutarch

pexels-rebrand-cities-1367269

How many significant mentors have you had in your life?

How did you react when their torch’s flame died out?

One of my few mentors, from early in my career, passed away in April. Being hugged by his wife and daughter while they shared how much he loved me, left me a tad emotional. At the luncheon afterwards, it seemed strange to meet people, whom you’ve never previously met, but they know everything about you from the wonderful stories shared about you, by your mentor.

Just as the best mentors have done for you, he helped shape my career and more importantly my life.

Most importantly he taught me how to appreciate life… at whole new level, that few will ever reach!

Appreciate one’s “lovely bride”, his term for his wife, that I adopted for mine for 17 years. Gentlemen, if you choose well and she graces you with the privilege to walk down the isle… she will always be your “lovely bride”. Sadly; my ex-wife developed a mental illness that eventually took her life.

In my single life since; I’ve yet to meet anyone with her amazing appreciation levels. Appreciation is a gift I’m keenly aware of, know what exceptional execution of it looks like, etc., and albeit sad, just let those without amazing appreciation levels, self-cleanse out of my life.

adult-beautiful-beauty-620074
pexels-elifskies-7799284

Appreciate the meal before you. He was almost 20 before he ate his first steak. Learning to truly appreciate all the basic blessings in life… at a deep level… is a rare gift.

Appreciate the opportunity to be coached by leaders wiser than you. He often reminded me, Jim… I don’t have to do this. His willingness to coach me, such a challenging student at the time, is still appreciated today.

Most people will just give up on you. Truly appreciate those who invest in you, not because you’re worth the investment now… but because they believe in you long-term!

People wonder why I get choked up when people I’ve hired over the years, come back to thank me… It’s not about me… I’m just sharing part of the flames that were gifted to me by my mentors!

The price for lack of high appreciation… is Forfeiture of Unorthodoxly-Amazing…

which is the cruelest penalty availed to one’s finite life.

If you have the capacity, the best mentors refuse to let you accept anything in life, but Amazing. Sadly, most people won’t be able to rise to amazing levels of appreciation and will simple self-cleanse out of your life.

pexels-shvets-production-7203724

However; the ones who remain long-term, are bonded by an infinite amount of appreciation!

.

May each of you… recall the flames your mentors have lit within you… for you to share with others…

so their flames live on with you and with those whom you light up!

Does Karma Play a Zero-Sum Game?

“Before you act, you have freedom, but after you act,

the effect of that action will follow you whether you want it to or not.

That is the law of karma.” — Paramahansa Yogananda

.

“There’s a natural law of karma that vindictive people, who go out of their way

to hurt others, will end up broke and alone.” — Sylvester Stallone

.

“You might have burned me with your lies, but karma is about to set you on fire.”

— Buddha

pexels-rhalf-ryan-gejon-6227930

Oh… the greatest, most patient chess player in the Game of Life… Karma!

Ruthless and unforgiving with impeccable scorekeeping

and complexly-deceptive timing…

yet, able to simultaneously be abundantly kind and masterfully helpful

while providing an abundance of gifts!

So the key question… how does Karma keep score?

.

Is it at the individual, family or other level?

Three Scorekeeping Possibilities:  At the Individual level, at the end of your life, you will have received an amount of Good and Bad Karma; based on your Good and Bad decisions, thus, it’s a Zero-Sum game. It’s a little confusing since your decisions are not treated equally; rather, they’re “weighted” based on each decision’s significance.

Could it be that Karma keeps score at the Family level, where the family overall receives an equal amount of Good Karma and Bad Karma, based on all it’s member’s collective decisions?

However, if the amount of Good and Bad Karma, based on the Good and Bad decisions of all family members, is equal at the family level, as opposed to the individual level, that would mean, the Good or Bad Karma created by one member of the family may be absorbed by a different member of the family.

pexels-juan-mendez-12422683
pexels-kristina-paukshtite-704752

At the third level, the World level, there is an equal amount of Good and Bad Karma in the world. Thus; every decision that enables Bad Karma, creates an equal amount of Good Karma… for someone else.

What do you think?

Given that I’ve never figured out how Karma keeps score, my goal is to always make every decision as though Karma is watching… believing that each of us is 100% accountable for every decision… and the Good or Bad Karma that is irrevocably intertwined with it.

The best way to avoid Bad Karma, is to lean into two of your sub-DMQ’s (Decision Making Qualities), when you are making decisions, regardless of how uncomfortable it is. The two are DMQ-Heart and DMQ-Soul, because these two lack the capacity to mislead you; unlike other sub-DMQ’s.

.

Simultaneously, you’ll need to limit your sub-DMQ-Mind and sub-DMQ-Inner-Circle (if it’s less-than-stellar) because both will merely attempt to self-justify your less-than-stellar decisions, to protect your ego and self-esteem.

What is your cumulative Karma score with the chess Grandmaster Karma?

Jugular, Holistic You

“The difference between living a “Good Enough” and an “Unorthodoxly-Amazing” life…

simply comes down to those few, key Jugular Decisions we make on life’s fascinating journey.

.

Just look at your years of decision-making in your rearview mirror…

you’re likely to see more of the same through the windshield.

.

Thus; we’re all free to choose a Good-Enough… all the way to an Unorthodoxly-Amazing journey.”

.

~ James Roncevich

pexels-anna-shevchuk-11503173

Who are you… really?

The authentic answer, is only revealed, when you’re faced with jugular issues… that are also filled with, what you believe, are unavoidable potential risks!

For these jugular decisions… do you shrink, massage the truth, flat-out lie, throw people under the bus… or take the opportunity to elevate your integrity, courage, etc.?

.

Who are you really, when it comes to actually helping others

with fewer resources and opportunities?

Per the 93% / 7% rule… 93% shrink and only 7% rise to the challenge, bite the proverbial bullet, chew it up, spit it out and elevate themselves as a person!

.

As these jugular forks play out on life’s journey, one’s Inner-Circle is naturally built… “5.0’s” self-cleanse out of “9.0’s” Inner-Circles… by just being themselves and “9.0’s” will attract other “9.0’s”.

When the difference between the Holistic-DMQ (Decision Making Quality)

of two or more people in a professional or personal relationship is too great…

the relationship will naturally dissolve itself

as all parties will seek others with similar Holistic-DMQ’s.

.

Being around people with materially-equivalent DMQ’s, enables

everyone to mentally, physically and intellectually feel safe.

alcohol-background-beverage-1446320

In launching our 100,000+ DEI Scholarships’ Initiative… we only collaborate with Top-7%’ers… sadly, 93% will self-cleanse themselves out of our Intelligent Social Impact Fundraising model, and forfeit being part of this wonderful opportunity to change 1,000’s of people’s lives. Sigh!

Thus; in our 100,000+ DEI Scholarships’ Initiative, we only seek out Top-7% leaders

with Holistic-DMQ’s of “8.5” or higher and have a social impact mindset.

Leaders with “sub-8.5” Holistic-DMQ’s are typically insecure or primarily self-centered; therefore, feel they need to make self-centered decisions that make them look good, feel safe, etc., but unwilling to help others more than “just enough”.

Are you an “8.5+” Holistic-DMQ University Leader…

The 3 Best Parts About Becoming Wealthy… in Organic Ways

“When wealth is lost, nothing is lost; when health is lost, something is lost;

when character is lost, all is lost.” ~ Billy Graham

.

“Fate leads the willing and drags along the reluctant.” ~ Seneca

2020-06-a-Smaller-woman-and-man-dancing-under-light-2188012

Naively… many (including my younger self) begin working, in the hopes of becoming wealthy… sadly… for the money!

Spoiler Alert:  This blog isn’t about how to make money, that’s the easiest part and there are 1,000’s of ways to do that. It’s about the more important parts of this amazing journey!

There are many gifts provided to the wise on this unorthodox, excruciatingly painful and tearfully beautiful journey… when you start close to $0. We’ll focus on just three of the most important gifts.

Gift #1:  Self-Cleansing Relationships – Most people love you when you help to provide attractive Lifestyle Packages for them. Lifestyle Packages are plentiful and can be provided by most people earning consistent, 6-7-Figure incomes in traditional jobs.

With this Gift, those who aren’t committed to your holistic mission, will self-cleanse out of your life. Money shifts from being the primary reason for work to becoming the by-product of your Purpose-Driven Life. Many people around you will feel uncomfortable when this shift away from money to purpose takes place, wish you the best but won’t want to be part of the unpredictable journey… such is life!

While you’re making this transition in thinking, self-centered people in your life who are unable or unwilling to adapt, will now look for others who can help them fulfill their desired Lifestyle Package.

The stunningly beautiful part of this transition… you’ll be left with only the most beautiful people on the planet in your Inner-Circle and eventually, as a by-product, you’ll make more money than you’ve ever made in your life.

pexels-fotografierende-1721092
adult-blank-board-1350615

Gift #2:  You Get the Privilege to Elevate Others – Wow! Who would have thought that elevating others is so, so much better than elevating your own lifestyle!?!

An elderly gentleman, who referred to himself as, “the happiest man in the world”, asked me to go to lunch with him and his wife of 55 years. During lunch, he shared many stories about his travels in life. However; his passion elevated when he spoke about the tipping point in his life. He was only 27, had made over $30 million and still… wasn’t happy.

So… he gave all his money away and founded a Non-Profit to help others, while travelling to the poorest parts of the world.

Who left him during this transition in thinking… basically all the;

  • “What have you done for me lately” people
  • “What bad things might happen in the future if I stay with you” people
  • “Love to help you, but…” people

Thus; the only ones left in his Inner-Circle were high-integrity professionals and supportive personal relationships… including his wife.

Again, he refers to himself as the “happiest man in the world” based on who he’s surrounded by and for the privilege to pursue his giving purpose in life!

Gift #3:  The Snowball Effect – Once you’re left with only those rare few, who will brave the cold, snow, etc., to help you build a “social impact opportunity snowball” that will change 1,000’s of people’s lives and starts rolling down the hill… others will now see this wonderful snowball of social impact coming down the hill and want to piggyback onto your success, to be part of something really, really exceptional.

It’s important to note, there are many people who are able to add to the snowball once it’s rolling; but very few people have the capacity to help you get the snowball built and started down the hill. Be careful when letting any of the “love what you’re doing, come lately” people into your Inner-Circle. Would they have been there for you, when you weren’t wealthy and successful?

.

The Moral:  Make… making money… the by-product of your success,

while changing the lives of others; which is, where the abundant richness in life is found!

Would You Like to Actually Change 10 People’s Lives?

“They both listened silently to the water, which to them was not just water, but the voice of life,

the voice of Being, the voice of perpetual Becoming.”

.

Who are you… really?

How many lives have you significantly changed in your lifetime so far?

How many lives would you love to significantly change in your lifetime?

.

Are there simple ways for us to rise above our self-centered decisions

to significantly change other people’s lives?

Simple… Yes… if you can change the way you see the opportunity!

.

Effortless… No… it’ll take at least a little bit of effort.

.

What if you wanted to change 10 people’s lives and it took less than 5 hours of your time?

.

Would you invest less than 5 hours of your time to change 10 people’s lives?

What if you could spend $0.00 while investing less than 5 hours of your time, to create 10 Fully-Funded Scholarships at universities of your choice, that will change the lives of those 10 people, as well as the lives of their children?

Again, would you invest less than 5 hours?

The key to your success, is in collaborating with our team, who will do 98% of the work to create the money for the scholarships.

Too good to be true… that’s what 100+ F500’s and numerous other organizations have said for the past 20 years… until they began saving $5+ Billion collectively after working with our teams… to enable them to donate more to social impact causes of their choice!

Again… who are you… really?

Our Journeys Through the Deserts of Life… Tells Us Who We Really Are

“On your journey to your dream, be ready to face oasis and deserts.

In both cases, don’t stop”

How many “Good Enough” years would you trade for each “Unorthodoxly Amazing” year?

This is a tough question to answer since each person uniquely defines these two terms, using their unique Holistic Decision Making Quality (DMQ).

Further; most people overestimate how many years they’ll live, while often mistakenly thinking, their years will get better vs. staying about the same or possibly getting worse. Sadly, “Better”… seldom plays out in reality.

So… when you’re faced with forks in the road on your life’s journey… how do you make the best decisions?

First; it’s critical to figure out what you’re truly committed to doing with your life… for you, your family and society overall. Your commitment level will determine how you handle each subsequent trip through the “deserts of life”.

Here are a few commitment levels frequently observed.

  • Hope – We make choices without doing the underlying work needed, hoping these façade choices get us through the desert.
  • Be Carried – We get so weak that others need to carry us.
  • Independent – We grab the camel and head into the desert with minimal help from others, because we think we need to do this by ourselves… only to put ourselves in control to make even worse choices during the trip.
  • Interdependent – We work together with others so everyone gets through the desert safely.
  • Unorthodoxly-Amazing – We are so appreciated by others, they walk side-by-side with us every step of the journey, carry us when we falter and make sure we get the majority of the water during the journey!

The Leadership Decision Making Quality (DMQ) Challenge / Opportunity

When things don’t go as planned, go well, etc., how do you respond?

Our past experiences often drive our current decision making… when our Holistic Decision Making Quality (DMQ) is an 8.4 or lower.

Our past experiences partially contribute toward our current decision making, but we effectively (critical) incorporate all the unique variables… when our Holistic-DMQ is an 8.5 or higher.

Each time we make a jugular decision at major forks in our lives… something is gained and something is forfeited… no exceptions… period!

If our commitment is to choose the most predictable path through the desert… the results will likely be… just that… predictable and Good Enough.

If our commitment is to choose to lead an Unorthodoxly-Amazing life on our path through the desert… the results are unknown, but the journey is Unorthodoxly Amazing!

Most people shrivel when it comes to Executing-Excellently Unorthodoxly-Amazing. They think they grasp the idea, but often falter when the journey becomes too rough, unpredictable, etc.

How have your Unorthodoxly-Amazing journeys turned out (if you’ve had any)?

If you started the journey with another person, when and why did they continue

on the journey with you; or, abandon you during the journey?
